His Grace, Bishop Alexei of Alaska (of the OCA) explains a great spiritual blessing, that is widely forgotten: women take the head-covering upon themselves in the Church’s worship. A sacred vestment for herself, the head-covering has been stigmatized by the secular world as a symbol of oppression. This inversion of the truth by the devil is countered with the teachings that the head-covering is as a beautiful symbol of womanhood for the Christian woman, as we read in Scripture and among our Saints.
